Reality #2: Account Executives are not creative
You are not creative and you do not get to have ideas. That is right – you are a “suit” and as a suit your job is to send useless emails, create job briefs, do budgets, go to meetings, kiss the ass of the client. But under no circumstance do you actually get to develop the next big idea that the client will them implement, change their business and you get awarded recognition for.
I’m sorry did you actually think account people got to have ideas? Especially at large agencies?
If you actually want to make a difference/ have an impact – go to a small agency that is trying to make a name for itself. Avoid the big guys with all the awards and history, too many award have made them corporate and cautious.
Be cautious of the little guys will all the awards, they already have their dream team and until that dream team has coked themselves out, there’s not room for you. They will also claw your eyes out.
